2017 "Shake The Lake" Madison
It was cool and windy after the rain stopped for "Shake the Lake" in Madison this year so wonderful to enjoy the fireworks.
"2016 Shake the Lake" Capitol adorned with pink Daisies
Wisconsin's capitol graced by these lovely fireworks at "Shake the Lake" 2016.
"Sunflowers in the Summertime Heat"
Acres & acres of glorious sunflowers in bloom. I recently captured these sunflowers as the sun was beginning to set. It seems that sunflowers face east with the rising sun & they don't quite face the sun at sunset as I found with this beautiful field of sunflowers. Fortunately there was very little wind or any breeze to do this as an HDR image with 3 in camera photos combined into 1 to create this photo. I try to soften the HDR effect so that it isn't as obvious to give it a more natural look and appearance. Also loved the clouds & blue skies that completed this capture in the hot summer heat...
LOL! I don't recommend getting on the hood of your vehicle to take pictures of acres of sunflowers in your bare feet though, I was like a cat on a hot tin roof... :-)
If you click on the photo the dark background allows for much better viewing.
"Hyde's Mill Aging Gracefully"
Hyde's Mill was Built in 1850. It is such a popular place to photograph and waited over a year to post this capture and rendition I did of Hyde's Mill. What a beautiful place to photograph and just wasn't sure if I could capture it in a way that others would like it. This is a long exposure HDR image along with a couple of camera lens filters including a ND filter and post processing to get this effect. I hope you like it... :-)

"Soybeans a Plenty"
Captured this beautiful scene in the Baraboo bluffs of acres of soybeans bathed in the setting sun. It has been a while since I posted something different. I love my wildlife but there is still nothing better than a gorgeous sunset at the end of the day... :-)
"Tree Swallows Dancing in the Spring Rain"
These tree swallows were busy frittering around in the recent spring rains as the new spring leaves were appearing on the trees. Love the sights and sounds of spring in the air... :-)
"A Portrait of Eagles Magnificence In Still & Motion"
Every now and then you hope to be in the right place at the right time for a capture like this one. I was so excited when I looked back at my photo and saw this capture. It is not everyday that I can say a photo moves me as much as this one did. What most people don't know is that we had just returned from Nebraska a week ago from a nearly seven long year battle to see justice for my 2yo twin niece that had been murdered in 2008. Years went by with no arrests when there were 3 adults in the home. I headed up a grand jury petition long distance from Wisconsin. It succeeded and on April 10th 2015 the man responsible for my niece's death was sentenced to 80yrs-life in prison after his conviction in February this year. So after many trips to Nebraska seeking justice this capture from last Friday really hit home for me and my husband. A sign of freedom as we feel like we can finally breath and live life once again. Thank you all on CW for being such amazing photographers who continue to teach me so much and who have become wonderful friends willing to listen to this woman go on about her own families personal struggles... :-))
We have one amazing national symbol and never get tired of seeing these gorgeous Bald Eagles in flight. I was so excited when both eagles were in focus on this single image that makes a wonderful portrait. One eagle takes off from her perch just above the other in the background almost creates an optical illusion like she is coming in on the other eagle but is in fact in front of the still eagle. Have been playing around with a higher f stop 8-10 with a 400mm lens attached to a 2x extender. I hope you like it. :-))
"Tundra Swan On The Move"
A recent capture of this Tundra Swan as it decides to take to flight from our local Goose Pond. Love that spring has returned with these beautiful birds... :-))
"After the Challenge"
Another eagle challenged this eagle for the affections of another as they were preparing their nest for the season. He caught me off guard when he came flying by from a different angle. Love that there will be another season for this magnificent Bald Eagle...
"Wings Wide Open"
I know it has been quite awhile since posting any photos but this was my early Christmas present on December 23rd. I came across this snowy owl late in the afternoon between the two ponds at Goose pond in Arlington Wisconsin. Gloomy, windy and drizzling when she flew away and never expected she would fly back five minutes later to give me this incredible opportunity for this wonderful capture. I hope you like It... :-))
I am an RN and work on a medical/surgical unit in a hospital. My favorite pass times are with family, photography, gardening and travel.
Somebody asked: "You're a nurse? That's cool, I wanted to do that when I was a kid. How much do you make?" The nurse replied: "HOW MUCH DO I MAKE?" I can make holding your hand seem like the most important thing in the world when you're scared. I can make your child breathe when they stop. I can help your father survive a heart attack. I can make myself get up at 5 a.m. to make sure your mother has the medicine she needs to live. I work all day to save the lives of strangers. I make my family wait for dinner until I know your family member is taken care of. I make myself skip lunch so that I can make sure that everything I did for your wife today is charted. I make myself work weekends and holidays because people don't just get sick Monday thru Friday. Today, I might save your life. How much do I make? All I know is, I make a difference...
